Music Video: Hot Chip - I Feel Better

This is an amazing music video. For an awesome track off one of the best albums of the year.

If you disagree with anything above, you’re probably pretty stupid.

Pitchfork write-up here. Watch the video first.

Dance dance romance, mother fuckers.

Coldplay- Yellow

Can we take a minute to remember how awesome Coldplay was? How great their music made us feel?

This song was like the track of my 12th grade relationship. Loving, optimistic, fresh. There was no baggage. No history, no pretense. Just joy.

When Yellow played on the jukebox at a cheesy dive on Saturday, it stopped me dead in my tracks. Like, I was just overcome with how great it was to hear it again, how it’s held up perfectly, not sounding old, but also brining with it a nostalgic quality that is completely un-ironic in time of everything-4-irony.

Listened to Parachutes a few times since then. It’s been great. *smiles*

Parachutes - Coldplay

New video from Swedish mermaid-rockers jj. The song, “Let Go” is on their brand new album jj n° 3. I love this track. It’s really working nicely with my current Dylan craze. Download free here along with another new non-album track.

Listen to the new album right here:

Will jj n° 3 be this summer’s jj n° 2? Ha.

Catch them at the Echoplex on 4/17.

Ace of Base - The Sign

Too soon?

PS - Sickest bridge ever.

AND, The Mountain Goats video cover.

I'm buying a Barbie

Every little boy should get a Don Draper doll.

How else will these little men learn the proper way to treat women, run a business and take their whiskey?

I can only hope the Don doll comes with a pack of smokes and rocks glass for the true Draperian effect.

Thanks Mattel.

God, why does this music always sound so awesome? Fucking love.

Big thanks to the Smokey for the link.

And this is obviously important for all of us.

Yeasayer Video: O.N.E. (UPDATED)

Here’s the video on VIMEO.

Yeasayer “ONE” By: Radical Friend from ODDBLOOD on Vimeo.

Original Post:

Yeasayer debuted their new video for “O.N.E.” on POPJUSTICE today.

Their video for Ambling Alp has been, so far, one of my favorites of the year (or the end of last). But this one takes the zaniness to a new level. It’s like a spectacular mash-up of TRON, Logan’s Run, the Mos Eisley cantina, MC Hammer and other assorted 90’s Freshness all rolled into one.

Video aside, I think, overall, Odd Blood is tits. Been heavy into it for the past several months. Stoked to see them with the uber buzzy Sleigh Bells in April up in SF.

FLASH DELIRIUM - MGMT

Here’s a new track off MGMT’s upcomming album, Congratulations. You can download it for free at the band’s website.

This is what Pitchfork had to say:

The new song by psych-rock duo MGMT features flutes, horns, and about seven different sections that reference doo-wop, old school rock’n’roll, electro balladry, Ariel Pink-style lo-fi, wall-of-Spector pop, and the Beatles at their most high. All in four minutes and sixteen seconds! (Via MGMT’s site.)

I’ll say that this track is crazy awesome.

Hoping MGMT steps outside their box on this follow-up. Thinking about the Killers and Sam’s Town, which I loved.

Oh man, I was trying to get the Yahoo! Media Player working on my page for like two hours yesterday. Player implemented, but uploading songs isn’t quite there yet…

I didn’t really have a great new song to share at the time, so I was testing over and over with “Big Wave Rider” by Rainbow Bridge.

Sure, it’s not a new song AND surf-rock is a well established revival genre right now, (already saw a nice tumblr post today on the Drums) but I really love this track. Caught the video for it several months back on P4k and it’s stayed with me.

Take a listen and pretend your on a breezy tropical beach and not at work for a few minutes.

From my most favorite blog ever.

It doesn’t get much better for me than Indians (Native Americans) and Russians. They are like two of the most awesome cultural groups ever. I can’t even go into the reasons why; there’re just too many.

This is a post from the sick sick blog EnglishRussia. It’s tops. Check it out for a look at stuff you’ll just never get a glimpse of as an American. The writing’s kinda Engrishy, but the photos are always truly impressive.

Dinner last night

My dinner last night was dope. I used this recipe from Chow.com, also my brother’s employer, and was thrilled with the results.

The only change I made was taking this from a warm dish to a hot dish. I pan fried the pieces of tofu in some sesame and veggie oil and plopped them atop the hot noodles. The sauce was made as directed.

Best part about this is I DO remember how to make the recipe today and hope to have that stored upto for some time.

Enjoy. I did.

Girls B-sides!

I love this band. So stoked to hear more of their music.

Gettin' Real

Fuck, it’s about time American Apparel cut though all the bullshit and got real. Sure, they’ve been throwing sex in our face for years. And have done it with a voyeuristic perspective on young girls that not only arouses and gets rigid chicks into a huff, but really connects on that “been there” level. However, they’ve done it behind a mask of commerce. It was their advertising ploy. A branding maneuver.

Anyhoo, the brand is finally coming into its own. American Apparel now proudly presents their contest for the world’s best ass. (Well, I guess it’s over now, but that’s not the point.) Sure, it’s still part of their ad-game, but this is what they’ve wanted to be.

I’ve been saying for years that AA is the new GAP. Maybe instead it’s the new Maxim.

PS - Hot ass too risqué for you? Maybe you’ll find the AA line of Sesame Street clothing more palatable.
