ARCADE FIRE - SPRAWL II (MOUNTAINS BEYOND MOUNTAINS)
This song is living room dance-parties. Bedroom dance-parties. Cut-loose with your friends and loose yourself, momentarily, to the music. Nostalgic, warm, driving and optimistic in tone. Love.
Um, holy shitballs. Daft Punk’s TRON score is shaping up to be absolutely epic. Well, everything about this film is starting to look pretty out of this world.
Just listen to some of these samples…
I’ll concede that some of it sounds just like what it is, movie score. But this is one thick-as-hell movie score.
Yawn - Kind of Guy
Loving this video and song. The intro’s a bit long, but the pay-off’s worth it.

Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang
Fresh to death.
Wavves - Post-Acid

Loving this new track from Wavves. Don’t care what the dorks at buddyhead say (though I love them), Wavves is fun. And while our young friend did a bunch of growing up last year, here’s to a new year.

LISTEN: “Bang Bang Bang” by Mark Ronson featuring MNDR and Q-Tip (via The Fader)

Mark Ronson premiered “Bang Bang Bang” a few days ago on Zane Lowe’s show. It’s a super catchy pop song with a fairly simple beat. Nice vocals on MNDR sounding like a British Santigold.
Record Collection is set to be released in September and features collaborations with Boy George, Miike Snow, Theophilius London and others
Basic Element - Touch You Right Now
Epic, catchy and so incredibly cheesy.
The Euroclubpoppinist!
Loves.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Samples of Arcade Fire’s new 12”.
Great fun. Simple. Digital. Execution.
And, of course, an album crazily anticipated.

MP3 :: Yours to Keep - Teddybears STHLM feat. Paola
I’ve had a crush on the song “Yours to Keep” since the first time I heard it, in the soundtrack to the snowboard film Afterlame. (That soundtrack, BTW, was full of hits, check out a few more below.) For a song released in 2000(!), it still sounds fresh and contemporary and really fits in nicely with a lot of the new, synth-heavy chillwave tunes. Plus, it’s a total summer slammer.
Anyway, as it goes with music, sometimes you forget about the old stuff you really like while you struggle to stay atop of the endless torrent of exciting new tracks. It had been a long time since I’d listened to or thought about “Yours to Keep,” that is, until a new song came along that triggered my memory.
That track was Neon by Teen Daze. Listened to back-to-back, I think these songs really have a lot in common, both in sound and general tone. So thanks, Teen Daze, for putting out a great song that reminded me of another really great song.
Others Afterlame Hits:
MP3 :: Ready 2 Wear - Felix Da Housecat
MP3 :: Heartbeats - The Knife
MP3 :: Going Nowhere - Cut Copy
This song killed it for me over the weekend. It got multiple plays at home and in the car. Perfect music for the great weather over the weekend and also heavily reminiscent of another song I’ll post in a minute. Until then, enjoy these sweet synth sounds.

Took me all but 30 seconds in to realize I needed to share this with you.

Hu. This isn’t really want I was expecting from Mark Ronson, but I’m happily surprised. Pretty stoked now to hear the rest of the new recored, titled Record Collection: Via Stereogum. Props to them on their “Link” pun. Or was it a play on words? And the always appropriate follow-up to anything gaming related: Full embed disabled by YouTube/AdultSwim :(Mark Ronson – “Circuit Breaker” Video
Tim DBA, SmokeDontSmoke, is consistently good.

It seems like there is a new mindblowing track coming out at every turn these days. It just so happens a lot of them are aiding in the inevitable change of season quickly approaching. And with the weather getting increasingly warmer, the shirts cut lower, the shorts shorter, the shoes sandier, and so on, I felt compelled to put together this mix of tracks that I’ve been letting take hold of me.
